Pensive: A Global Journal of Spirituality & the Arts, an acclaimed online journal from Northeastern University, invites you to submit unpublished poetry, prose, visual art, and translations that express a range of religious/spiritual/humanist experiences and perspectives; deepen the inward life; envision a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world; and challenge structural oppression in all its forms. We are especially interested in work from international and historically underrepresented communities. Submissions for Issue 11 are open August 1-November 15, 2025. There is no fee for submission, and we are currently a non-paying market. We do not accept previously published pieces or AI/ChatGPT-generated work. Submit 3-5 pieces (max word count: 5000) with a 3-5 sentence third-person biography, via Submittable. For visual art submissions please also submit alternative text and feel free to submit an artist statement. Past contributors include Jimmy Santiago Baca, Joseph Bruchac, Martha Collins, Richard Chess, Robert Cording, Martin Espada, Annie Finch, Diane Glancy, Jeff Gundy, Richard Hoffman, Jennifer Jean, Sydney Lea, Frannie Lindsay, Sarah Maitland, Fred Marchant, D.S.
